Eversley Village Hall Receives Biffa Award Funding for Raising the Roof Project

The Trustees of Eversley Village Hall are delighted to announce that it has been awarded a grant from Biffa Award of £30,760.00 towards funding the much-needed replacement of its roof. This will enable the village hall to continue serving the local community for years to come.

Eversley Village Hall is a vital community hub and has been a central gathering place for residents of Eversley and the surrounding areas for decades. However, despite many repairs the aging roof is now in need of urgent replacement to ensure the safety and comfort of all who use the facility.

Thanks to the generous support of Biffa Award, Eversley Village Hall will now be able to undertake the necessary roof replacement project. The grant will cover a significant amount towards the cost of materials, labour, and other associated expenses, ensuring that the project can be completed to the highest standards.

The roof replacement project is a crucial step in ensuring the long-term sustainability of Eversley Village Hall.  It sets us on the path towards reduced costs and time for maintenance work and paves the way for projects that enable use of sustainable energy sources such as solar panels in the future. With a new and improved roof, the hall will be better equipped to withstand the elements and provide a safe and comfortable environment for community groups, meetings, and social activities.

“We are extremely grateful to the Biffa Award for their generous funding,” said Ed Dixon Chairperson of Eversley Village Hall. “This grant will enable us to carry out the much-needed roof replacement, ensuring that our community has a safe and welcoming space for years to come.”

Rachel Maidment, Biffa Award Grants Manager, said: “Investing in community buildings, the heartbeat of our neighbourhoods, is paramount. By providing a £30,760 grant to revitalize the village hall roof, we guarantee a purposeful space for the community, ensuring its lasting impact for years to come.”

Biffa Award is a multi-million-pound fund that helps to build communities and transform lives through awarding grants to communities and environmental projects across England and Northern Ireland as part of the Government’s Landfill Communities Fund.

The Eversley Village Hall roof replacement project is expected to commence in April 2024 and is estimated to be completed within 6 weeks. During this period, some disruptions to regular activities may occur, but every effort will be made to minimize inconvenience to the community.

Eversley Village Hall would like to express its sincere gratitude to Biffa Award for their support and For more information about Eversley Village Hall and the roof replacement project, please contact:

Biffa Award:

Since 1997, Biffa Award has awarded grants totalling more than £189 million to thousands of worthwhile community and environmental projects across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The programme administers money donated by Biffa Group Ltd through the Landfill Communities Fund. www.biffa-award.orgLandfill Communities Fund:

The Landfill Communities Fund (LCF) is an innovative tax credit scheme enabling operators (LOs) to contribute money to organisations enrolled with ENTRUST as Environmental Bodies (EBs).  EBs use this funding for a wide range of community and environmental projects in the vicinity of landfill sites.  LOs are able to claim a credit (currently 4.2%) against their landfill tax liability for 90% of the contributions they make. Since its inception in 1996, over £1.6 billion has been spent on more than 56,000 projects across the UK.  For further information please visit www.entrust.org.uk or see HMRC’s general guide to landfill tax.
